Biography

A former Silicon Valley engineer and McKinsey consultant, Mike has been immersed in the practice of innovation & entrepreneurship as an operating executive and educator. He served as a CxO of 8 startups; 2 went public on the NASDAQ and 7 were acquired by corporate strategics including IBM & Oracle.

Mike is currently a faculty member at Harvard & Rutgers and has been affiliated with MIT in a number of capacities, including Sr. Lecturer, $100K Startup Competition Judge, Enterprise Forum Instructor and CIO Symposium Planning team member for 20+ yrs. His numerous affiliations with Berkeley include Fellow at the Sutardja Center & Faculty in the Engineering Leadership Professional Program. Mike was named Financial Times Professor of the Week and won numerous Professor of the Year & Global Teaching Excellence Awards.

Mike is on the Board of Decode, a joint Stanford-Berkeley entrepreneurship initiative. Additionally, he’s CEO of Global Venture Catalyst, a new educational platform that helps top university STEM students come together with industry collaborators to work on innovation projects. He's led 200+ hackathons & design sprints and was the founding MD of the StartupNext Boston accelerator, acquired by Techstars & of the Boston OpenIDEO Chapter.

Additionally, Mike is a Rutgers College of Engineering Medal of Excellence Award recipient for Career Achievement and is a member of the National Engineering Honor Society. He’s been published in HBR Italy, INSEAD Knowledge, Wharton at Work and many others. He's regularly quoted in major business publications and is host of an innovation podcast series.

Mike received his MBA from Yale and was named the Jess Morrow Johns Memorial Scholar and awarded a Yale Teaching Fellow.
