Biography

Dave is currently the CEO of CarbonPoint, Inc., a Rhode Island based company delivering carbon concentration technology for carbon capture within distributed power applications while also advising companies in the electric aircraft and cellulose insulation industries.  Previously, Dave was the CEO of NanoSteel – an advanced materials company designing iron-based alloys for automotive structures, additive manufacturing, and wear resistance coatings. Dave led NanoSteel from concept through product development, scale-up and ultimately exit while developing a worldwide patent portfolio in excess of 350+ patents. He has extensive experience in partnerships and licensing agreements throughout the US, Europe and Japan and has raised in excess of $100M through venture and strategic capital.  Dave and his team executed the sale of the original product line to a major industrial company, the spin-out of a second product line into a new venture-backed start-up and the sale of the company’s core technology to US Steel.

Prior to NanoSteel, Dave led businesses which launched new power electronics for utility grid / wind turbine power quality, electric motors for marine propulsion, superconductors for power transmission and a jet aircraft engine overhaul facility for companies such as American Superconductor and Pratt & Whitney. As a consultant, he led a team to assist a major US consumer products company in its operational transformation to compete against lower cost imports.

Dave received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and his Master of Business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
