Mike Flanigan

Co-founder and CEO of seasats

Biography

Mike Flanigan is a co-founder and CEO of Seasats, a maritime autonomy company that builds and operates easy to use, low-cost, autonomous ocean vehicles.

Mike grew up in Rhode Island building treehouses, catapults, and other contraptions. One formative project was an autonomous boat named Scout that went on a historic 2013 trans-Atlantic attempted voyage. The late nights, successes, and failures, of Scout shaped the lives of the several friends and budding engineers behind the project. After the garage based education, Mike received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, worked for as an automation consultant programming equipment for companies like Gillette and Tesla, followed one of his Scout friends to work for Ocean Aero: another formative autonomous boat startup, and eventually went back to school for a M.S. in Computer Science and Robotics. Great work experiences, a supportive community, and a stint as a co-captain for a charity boxing club, led Mike to his current position working at an exciting startup helping provide solutions for the Blue Tech industry.
